  • 4 bottomless teas served in large teapots from 60+ organic teas

  • 2 flavors of scones, up to 48 scones, served with clotted cream, homemade jam & lemon curd

  • 3 flavors of custom tea sandwiches (up to 72 total)

  • 2 flavors of mini desserts lightly sprinkled with fairy dust, which is beautiful, edible glitter (up to 48 desserts)

  • Keepsake Giftbook Teapot (a beautiful 18-ounce, ceramic tea pot that you may have your guests sign as a “guest book”)

  • Bottomless mimosa bar – Please ask for current wine list to make your selections (Additional pots/flavors of tea, lemonade, juice and/or non-alcoholic beverages may be substituted)

Platinum Tea Party

Space: Entire Tea Room!

This is the Ultimate Private Party! This package includes everything the Superior Party comes with, with the addition of the entire restaurant to yourself!

Private Party Room: The private party room is designed to seat up to 24 guests and can be made 100% private. Enjoy a private party experience in our beautiful party room! Surrounded by fun photos of celebrities drinking their favorite teas, plates are presented for you and your guests on traditional tea tiers decorated with colorful bows OR buffet style of beautiful silver trays.

Front-Of-House: Parties up to 35 guests can be accommodated in the front-of-house space for an additional charge. This is like renting half of the tea room for your event. It does not include the private party room. Tea Tier service OR buffet style.

Platinum Party Tea Room Rental: Parties of any number up to 55 can reserve the entire tea room! Packages start at $5,000. Call us to discuss details.

Common Questions and Policies

Party Types & Availability

You have three options when planning your private party at McHughTEA.

1) Elegant Tea / Superior Tea Private Party Room Package: The private party room is designed to seat up to 24 guests and can be made 100% private. The party room is yours for up to 3 hours, which includes 30 minutes before and 30 minutes at the end of your approved party time to allow for set up and break down of your party.

2) Elegant Tea / Superior Tea Front-Of-House Party Package: Parties up to 35 guests can be accommodated in the front-of-house space for an additional charge. This is like renting half of the tea room for your event. It does not include the private party room. We will reserve that space to seat lunch/afternoon tea reservations and walk-ins. This is still considered a private party! You will have dedicated servers to ensure your guests feel special and attended to.

3) Platinum Party Tea Room Rental Package: Parties over 35 ppl must book the Platinum Party Package which is a rental of the entire tea room and can accommodate up to 55 guests. You may also book this option for parties of any number up to 55. Please call 713.218.6300 for details.

If the morning party time extends into the afternoon party time frame, the afternoon party package rate will apply.

Private Event Additional Costs Policy

We are delighted to host your private parties and events, providing you with an enchanting and memorable experience. To ensure transparency and clarity, we have established the following policy regarding additional costs per person for private parties:

Base Package Inclusions: Our private party packages are thoughtfully designed to offer an exceptional experience for you and your guests. The base package includes a set number of guests, a curated menu of teas and culinary delights, dedicated staff, and use of our charming tea room for a specified duration.

Additional Guests:

We understand RSVPs and party numbers fluctuate. Even up to your event date. The following policies are to help you plan as best as you can.

  • Our Private Party Room can comfortably seat up to 24 people. If you choose to try and squeeze more people in you will pay the additional fee per person and we cannot guarantee seating comfort.

  • Parties up to 35 ppl use the Front of House space. The same rule applies if you want to try and squeeze a few more people in over the 35, you will pay the additional fee per person and we cannot guarantee seating comfort.

  • For parties over 35 people you must select the Platinum Party Package.

  • All additional costs cover the provisions of extra food, tea servings, and tea room host attention.

Additional Fees Per Person:

  • This varies based on morning/afternoon party times, package and space chosen. Please speak with us so we can quote you accurately.

Additional Time: For afternoon parties only, additional time may be added for $50/half hour.

Customization and Upgrades: We understand that each event is unique, and you may desire additional enhancements beyond the base package. Our team is more than happy to accommodate your requests. Any customizations or upgrades will be discussed in advance, and associated costs will be clearly communicated.

Additional Enhancements include:

  • Fruit Skewers | $4.50 per 12 skewers

  • 8-inch round cake | $45 (plain, fully iced, choice of cake flavor and icing flavor, wording on top)

  • Party Favor Cookies | $7 per 12 (sugar cookies presented in individual bags (diamond ring dipped in white chocolate or tea bag dipped in milk chocolate)

  • Bottomless mimosas for the Elegant Tea Party | $175 (alcohol free mimosas available upon request)

  • Mimosas by the carafe | $29 (40oz = 7 glasses)

Transparent Communication: Our commitment to transparency means that any additional costs per person will be communicated to you during the planning phase of your event. This will allow you to make informed decisions and ensure that there are no surprises.

Party Deposit

There is a $180 refundable* deposit required to reserve the time and date of the party. The deposit is not an additional fee with any party package. This is part of the total cost of any package choice that is simply needed to hold your party date and time on a specific day.

Please call prior to filling out the party form to check the dates and times available. The party time is not confirmed until you have heard from a McHughTEA Room staff member and we have successfully completed the deposit payment.

*For refund of party deposit, we require 2 full weeks’ notice for any cancellation on a private room or pre-set menu to refund deposit (less 7% to cover credit card processing fees) without additional charge to the client. You may change the date of your party one time, without fees, two full weeks prior to your original date. Refund does not apply to any Holiday Deposit

Holiday Deposit

There is a $300, non-refundable deposit required to hold the party room on specific holidays. The deposit is not an additional fee with any party package. This is part of the total cost of any package choice that is simply needed to hold your party date and time on the busy holiday reservation days. The current dates where a $300 deposit is required are May 27, November 25, December 16, December 23, and December 30.

Cancelation Policy

We require 2 full weeks’ notice for any cancellation on a private room or pre-set menu to refund the deposit (less 7% to cover credit card processing fees) without additional charge to the client. You may change the date of your party one time, without fees, two full weeks prior to your original date. In the case of full cancellation, it is up to the discretion of the Manager to determine what percentage of the bill is still owed. This can vary depending on how much food ordering, labor, and preparation has already been done for your menu and party setup. Cancellations 2 days or less prior to the party will be charged the full amount of the party package.

Outside Food & Beverage & Decorations

We don’t serve foods that are not made at our restaurant. However, we’ve made an exception. You may bring in a dessert for your party from a REPUTABLE COMMERCIAL BAKERY. We do not provide any utensils or to-go boxes for desserts that are not produced by the tea room. If you will serve this outside dessert yourself, you are required to bring in utensils, plates, and serving items and must serve your guests yourself.

NOTE: If you would like the tea room staff to serve your dessert, please let us know IN ADVANCE that you will be bringing in a cake from a bakery. There is a $25 service charge which covers service and products used to properly serve your dessert to your guests.

You’re welcome to bring decorations such as banners, balloons, and floral arrangements (no glitter, confetti, or play-doh, please).

Satisfied Tea Partyers
